TV – The Fall: Season 1: A-

the fall season1A-
I haven’t watched anything with Gillian Anderson since X-Files, and it was odd seeing her so cold, and so sexualized. But she owns her role here and is easily reason enough to watch. It’s also a bit strange seeing the serial killer portrayed as an everyman, but not as someone you root for. This also works well, differentiating the show from similar ones. The short season ends with quite the annoying cliffhanger, but it’s not much worse than the House of Cards finale. And as Wallander used its Swedish setting to distinguish the series, The Fall uses Ireland, though to a marginally lesser success.
